Maintain Software Certificates on macOS with Keychain Access
• In Mac, certificates are part of your digital identity and are stored in your keychain.
• Keychain Access lets you manage your certificates and keychains.
• These steps will help make sure your certificate is trusted and ready to use on your Mac computer.
• Be sure you have the following certificates and also the Root Certificates installed as you will need to change the trust settings to them.
• DoD ECA Certificates will have a Signing Certificate, an Encryption Certificate and two Root Certificates.
• IGC Certificates will have a Signing Certificate, an Encryption Certificate and four Root Certificates.
• TrustID Certificates will have one Certificate and two Root Certificates.

Walkthrough Steps
• To get started you will need to locate the keychain by either clicking on Spotlight Search and search for Keychain Access.app or the Keys in the Task Bar below.
• Click 'Open Keychain Access'.
• You will be prompted for your keychain Password.
• As a reminder, your keychain password is the same as your computer login password.
• You will need to locate the Root Certificates by clicking 'Login' and then clicking 'Certificates'.
• Be sure to locate the associated Root certificates.
• Be sure to follow these steps to trust the certificates in your Keychain Access Application.
• Double click on the certificate.
• Click the Drop Down for 'Trust'.
• Click the Dropdown from 'When using this certificate'. and change it to 'Always Trust'.
• Close the Window.
• You will be prompted for your keychain Password.
• Click 'Update Settings'.
• Once you update the Root Settings you will need to update your certificates.
• Click 'My Certificates'.
• Double Click on your Listed Certificate.
• Click the Drop Down for 'Trust'.
• Click the Dropdown from 'When using this certificate'. and change it to 'Always Trust'.
• Close the Window.
• You will be prompted for your keychain Password.
• Click 'Update Settings'.
