Digital signatures replace wet ink signatures and can be used to seal professional plans

Use digital signing and sealing to replace wet ink signatures and create non-repudiable, legally binding documents.  Digital signing allows agencies and organizations to streamline signature and approval processes, eliminate paper and establish an audit trail.  This audit trail adds to the integrity of the digital signing process by providing documentary evidence of the sequence of signing activities that took place.

A digital signature can also be configured to incorporate an official digital seal to replace the traditional stamped or embossed seal that requires a wet ink signature. This functionality allows digital signing and sealing to be used by federal, state and local agencies as well as the engineers, architects, surveyors and others who transact with these agencies. Anyone with a need to digitally sign and seal plans and other documents can benefit from digital signing and sealing.

Digital signatures can also be used to sign email communications, reassuring the recipient that the sender is actually you. Digital signing of documents and email is the best way to ensure that the digital media remains intact, protecting the overall integrity of the document or email.

The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) enacted June 30, 2000 is a U.S. federal law that facilitates the use of electronic records and electronic signatures in interstate and foreign commerce by insuring the validity and legal effect of contracts entered into electronically.  Former President Bill Clinton used an IdenTrust digital certificate to approve the ESIGN ACT.

IdenTrust as a Certification Authority (CA), issues Digital Certificates to digitally sign electronic documents. eNotary individuals can customize the appearance of the Digital Signature with their own Electronic Seal and/or facsimile of a wet signature, while keeping data integrity and non-repudiation of the signed document.

Simplify the submission of plans and other documents to government agencies

SEAL with AATL

Many federal, state and local agencies now require digital signing and sealing on electronic plan and document submissions. IdenTrust issues certificates under the IdenTrust Global Common (IGC) program, a policy that is Federal Bridge Cross-Certified and proprietary to IdenTrust. Federal Bridge certified certificates are accepted government agencies and are ideal for digital signing and sealing documents that are required by these agencies.

When the certificate is issued in a hardware device (HID USB Token or HID Smart Card), it is automatically AATL enabled: The digital signature is instantly and automatically trusted, whenever the signed document is opened in an Adobe® product.
