Use identity-based, U.S. Government trusted IGC certificates for email signing and encryption
IdenTrust Global Common (IGC) certificates are cross-certified with the U.S. Federal Bridge Certification Authority (FBCA), enabling trust and interoperability with a wide range of systems and applications. Each IGC credential includes two certificates (certificate pair). The first is used for authentication and digital signing. The second is used for encryption. The certificate pair enables a wide range of uses included signed and encrypted email communications.
IGC certificates are individually issued digital identity credentials that can be used to enable cryptographic protection of transmitted data. These credentials can be used to meet a variety of criteria for safeguarding sensitive information requiring government trust:
- Digitally sign and encrypt email and/or documents
- Ensure only intended recipient(s) can decrypt transmitted data
- Validate integrity of encrypted information (meaning it has not changed since encryption)
- Represent the identity of the sender of the information
IdenTrust IGC certificates integrate seamlessly with a variety of email products including:
- Microsoft® Outlook
- Microsoft® Outlook for Mac
- Mozilla® Thunderbird
- IBM® Lotus Notes Mail
- Apple® Mail
There are different types of IGC certificates that can be used for secure email, as well as other capabilities such as digital signing and two-factor authentication.
