PyraMED has partnered with IdenTrust to provide identity proofing and issuance of digital certificates used to digitally sign and electronically send DEA prescriptions.
With PyraMED, you can now securely transmit ePrescriptions to pharmacies for Controlled Substances (DEA Classes I, II, III, IV, and V). Exchanging prescription information electronically between physicians and pharmacies improves the accuracy of the prescribing process and saves time. The EPCS feature eliminates the need to print controlled substance prescriptions, streamlines the process for physicians, and helps to control the possible misuse of printed prescriptions. The feature enforces two-factor authentication when electronically prescribing Controlled Substances as required by the DEA.
Choosing Your Certificate
For EPCS Prescribing
If you will be using credentials for EPCS prescribing, you are required to use an IGC Basic Assurance with Hardware certificate. You can select this certificate option when you choose BUY NOW to access the Certificate Selection Wizard.
For Identity-Proofing Only
If you will not be submitting EPCS-compliant prescriptions, or your EHR/EMR provides non-IdenTrust tokens, you can opt to purchase an IGC Basic Assurance Software certificate that can be used for identity-proofing only. You may choose this certificate option when you choose BUY NOW to access the Certificate Selection Wizard.
In the case where hardware is issued, ONLY THE SUBSCRIBER OF THE CERTIFICATE SHOULD HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THEIR TOKEN – In all cases, THE DIGITAL CERTIFICATE IS YOUR FORM OF IDENTIFICATION, SIMILAR TO YOUR PASSPORT OR DRIVER’S LICENSE. Under the IGC Certificate Policy, it is our responsibility as an Authorized Certification Authority to revoke the certificate in a case of hardware loss or disclosure or compromise of the private key or any certificate related password to anyone other than the subscriber.
