The Type of Digital Certificate You'll Need

There are three personal digital certificate assurance levels offered through the State of Washington Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Program:

  • High Assurance Digital Certificate
  • Intermediate Assurance Digital Certificate
  • Standard Assurance Digital Certificate

IdenTrust also makes its TrustID Server Certificates available for purchase by Washington customers through this website. Information on IdenTrust's other commercial certificate offerings may be found at our main company website www.IdenTrust.com.

These digital certificate types are valid for either one or two calendar year. Each certificate carries a different reliance limit and different requirements as outlined in the matrix below.

Government agencies and businesses that require the use of digital certificates in order to conduct business are also known as Relying Parties or Application Owners. These organizations can assist you in determining the types of digital certificates required to access and use their applications.
