EXPORTING A CERTIFICATE

This section contains instructions on how you can export certificates from various web browsers.

Exporting Certificates from:
  1 Internet Explorer 5
  2 Outlook 2000
  3 Outlook Express
  4 Netscape Communicator
  5 Eudora Pro
  6 Export a certificate for a contact in your address book in Outlook 2000


Internet Explorer 5 - Complete the following steps to export a certificate from Internet Explorer 5:

  1 Open Internet Explorer 5.
  2 Select Tools-->Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box appears.
  3 Click the Content tab.
  4 Click the Certificates button. The Certificate Manager dialog box appears.
  5 Click the Personal tab.
The tab lists your certificates and lets you choose a certificate for export and import.
  6 Select the certificate to export.
  7 Click the Export button. The Certificate Manager Export Wizard appears.

Follow the instructions to complete the wizard. Select these options in the following screens:
Screen Action
Export Private Key with Certificate Select the "Yes, export the private key" button.
Certificate Export File Select the "Personal Information Exchange" and "Enable strong protection" options.
Password Protection for the Private Key In the Password and Confirm password fields, enter a password for your certificate.
Export File Name In the File name field, enter the path and filename to which you want to export the certificate.

After you have completed the wizard, a message appears that says, "The export was completed successfully." Click OK, and you have now completed the export process.


Outlook 2000 - Complete the following steps to export your certificate using Outlook 2000:

  1 Open Outlook 2000.
  2 Select Tools-->Options. The Options dialog box appears.
  3 Click the Security tab.
  4 Click the Import/Export Digital ID button. The Import/Export Security Information and Digital ID dialog box appears.
  5 Select the Export your Exchange or S/MIME Security Information option button, then Click Select. The Select a Certificate dialog box appears.
  6 Select the certificate to export, then Click OK. The Select a Certificate dialog box closes and the previous dialog box (Import/Export Security Information and Digital ID) becomes active.
  7 In the Export File field, enter the path and filename for the certificate to export, or Click Browse to browse to the location.
  8 In the Password field, enter the password for the certificate, then Click OK. You have completed the export process.

Outlook Express - Complete the following steps to export your certificate using Outlook Express:

  1 Open Outlook Express.
  2 Select Tools-->Options. The Options dialog box appears.
  3 Click the Security tab.
  4 Click the Digital IDs button. The Certificate Manager dialog box appears.
  5 Click the Personal tab to list your certificates.
  6 Select the certificate to export.
  7 Click the Export button. The Certificate Manager Export Wizard appears.

Follow the instructions to complete the wizard. Select these options in the following screens:
Screen Action
Export Private Key with Certificate Select the "Yes, export the private key" button.
Certificate Export File Select the "Personal Information Exchange" and "Enable strong protection" options.
Password Protection for the Private Key In the Password and Confirm password fields, enter a password for your certificate.
Export File Name In the File name field, enter the path and filename to which you want to export the certificate.

After you have completed the wizard, a message appears that says, "The export was completed successfully." Click OK. You have completed the export process.

Netscape Communicator - Complete the following steps to export a certificate from Netscape Communicator:

  1 Open Netscape Communicator.
  2 Click the Security button on the Navigation Toolbar.
The Security Info screen appears.
  3 Under the Certificates hyperlink, Click Yours. This displays all your certificates.
  4 Select the certificate to export.
  5 Click the Export button. If you have set up a password for Netscape Communicator, the Password Entry dialog box appears.
  6 Enter the password for Netscape Communicator, then Click OK
  7 Another Password Entry dialog box appears. Enter a password of your choice for the exported file, then Click OK.
  8 Confirm the password you just entered by entering it again, then Click OK. The File Name for Export dialog box appears.
  9 Browse to the location to which to export the certificate. Enter a name for the file, then Click Save.
The window displays a message indicating that your certificate has been successfully exported.
  10 Click OK to close the message.

Eudora Pro 4.1 - Complete the following steps to use WorldSecure Client 3.0 to export a certificate for use with Eudora Pro 4.1:

  1 Open Eudora Pro.
  2 Select Special--Message Plugins Settings. The Installed Message Plugins dialog box appears.
  3 Select WorldSecure Client, then Click the Settings button. The S/MIME Configuration - Current User dialog box appears.
  4 Click the Certificate Manager button. The Certificate Manager dialog box appears.
  5 Select the certificate to export, then Click the Export button. The Export Private Key File dialog box appears.
  6 Browse to the certificate and select it, then Click Open. The export process is now complete.

Outlook 2000 - Complete the following steps to export a certificate for a contact in your address book in Outlook 2000:

  1 Open Outlook 2000.
  2 Select Tools-->Address Book. The Address Book appears.
  3 Double-Click the name of the person for whom you would like to export the certificate. The Properties dialog box appears.
  4 Click the Digital IDs tab.
  5 Select the certificate to export, then Click the Export button. The Specify Digital ID File Name dialog box appears.
  6 Navigate to where you would like to export your certificate, then enter a filename for the certificate.
  7 Click Save. You have completed the export process.
