Identrus Joins Liberty Alliance Project As Sponsor Member
Global, bank-backed identity authentication standard to build upon Liberty Alliance's vision for federated identity and open standards
Identrus, LLC today announced that it has joined the Liberty Alliance Project as a sponsor member. Identrus will assist in the development of global standards for identity authentication as part of the consortium's effort to create an open and interoperable standard for federated network identity and identity-based Web services.
As a sponsor member of the Alliance, Identrus will bring international industry expertise relating to the policy, legal, operational and technical issues that must be addressed in developing a global, interoperable and standardized platform for identity management and identity-based Web services.
"Identrus' has already developed a global network of trust, based on an interoperable standard for identity authentication. The Liberty Alliance projects allows us to evolve and expand the Identrus Network to best suit the needs of our Participating Banks," said Karen Wendel, CEO of Identrus. "We are now actively participating in the Liberty Alliance Project to align our policy and legal infrastructure with the latest technological specifications developed by the Liberty Alliance."
The Liberty Alliance Project (http://www.projectliberty.org) is a consortium formed to develop open standards for federated network identity management and identity-based services. The Alliance is made up of 165 members, representing a worldwide cross-section of organizations ranging from educational institutions and government organizations, to service providers and financial institutions, to technology firms and wireless providers. Federated identity will help drive the next generation of the Internet, offering businesses and consumers convenience and choice. Membership is open to all commercial and non-commercial organizations.
